Sorry to start a new thread with the same old questions and queries about the 159's fuel economy but I just dont get it !
Had my 159 1.9JTD SW for about a year. When I got it I was getting around 37 mpg
on a run and yes compared to my old 156 2.4 10V it was rubbish.
Had the DPF removed and the remap done by Adie about 6-7 months ago and had high hopes that things would get a little better and I might head towards the 40 mpg at least but at best the fuel economy is the same and may be even a little worse.
Before you ask I only had the mid range remap as advised by Adie not the uber performance one.
The car does without doubt drive loads better with a lot less turbo lag and a better mid range but every one on AO seems to say they get better economy which I am definately not.
I dont drive like an arse and infact have even tried to drive more reservedly but it doesnt seem to make any difference.
Example... Drove from London to Chesterfield and back last Wednesday 320 mile round trip. Admittedly the journey up was awful weather wise, loads of rain and wind, so lights were on heater on radio etc but coming back was a little calmer. I normally drive at around 80 on a motorway but the conditions meant I was probably at 65-70 most of the way. Bottom line is 35.5 mpg overall.(fill to fill) The computer of course said I had achieved 47.9 mpg but I soon realised to ignore that especially since the remap.
(incidentally does anyone here know why the computer goes so inaccurate after the dpf and remap has been done?)
So does anyone have a take on whats happening? The car is serviced regularly, in great condition and I dont drive like I've just robbed a bank.
Should I consider taking it back to Adie ? I am getting fed up being obcessed with fuel and not just enjoying the car.
Hope someone can advise.
