Power Steering Reservior Identification

Lots of threads on powersteering have got me thinking.
Is there anyway i can tell if my powersteering reservoir is the newer one.
Cant seem to find a picture anyware showing a difference.

There is no visible difference. The difference is in the filter and the return valve inside the reservoir.

Is it worth a pre-emptive replacing of both reservoir and fluid? Would this avoid steer in rack failure? How practical is it to change the reservoir and fluid?

Other threads suggest its an easy change and less than £100 for new green fluid and a reservoir
Does anybody have a picture of the inside of the reservoir
I dont mind a preventitive fix but dont want to needlessly change parts.
From looking at other threads the colour of the fluid is no indication that you have a modified part as alfa dont know what their doing with this gem!
Do the reservoirs have different part numbers or revision numbers?
That might give an indication.
