2.2 cam chains

"Get engined checked" light came on, got car checked out, engine has now been flushed to remove any gunk and light now not on. Dealer advises that if the light comes on again then will need a new cam chain. The car has only done 22k miles but dealer reckons that this is quite common with these gm engines. 1000 quoted to replace, thank god I have extended warranty cover.

Anyone else come across this, I,m surprised as I thought those engines were pretty much bullet proof and I,ve certainly had no issues since I got my car nearly a year ago.
