ABS not available

I've started getting the above message every so often. I've looked on previous threads for an answer but couldn't find one. Does anyone have any ideas?😉

One thread quite recently - he traced it to chafed wires from the sensors.
Worth the time to check all four corners for Sensor correctly connected and located and lead to sensor not chafed behind the arch clading.

Does the mesage go away on its own?
Mine on startup ocasionaly says the same for about 2 seconds then the message goes away. Have also had the message not go away, this was fixed under warranty, was down to battery not fully charged.

Check battery for ABS fault light

Hi, I've had a similar problem - ABS warning light coming on sometimes- but only on cold start, I have recently replaced the battery (original 4.5 years) and the ABS fault has not reoccurred. I've come to the same conclusion as other on here that the ABS light is an early indication that the battery may be on the way out, and a under voltage battery could cause the ABS fault light. The new battery certainly turns the engine over with a noticeable difference.

Same happened to me when previous old battery was on way out. New battery cured except when it's exceptionally cold so definately battery related.

As above I get this if the battery is a little low, along with the other stability stuff not available. Then all goes away once running, after as above approx 2-3 seconds.

Out of interest I did alittle investigation into this ABS problem and the Battery voltage and found the following.

When key fob is inserted and dash lights up, all nodes on the CAN bus system including the abs pump do a self test.
The ABS pump has an electric pump inside and this is activated for about 1 second, there is a pressure transducer inside reading if the abs pressure has been reached.
With a battery that is old and draining the electric pump spins more slowly and setpoint pressure is not always reached in that test time, hay presto you get the "ABS not available" message.

I should also add that VDC,ASR and Hill Holder are also done from the same pump in the ABS/Module, sorry if thats obvious.
