I got stuck in Heathrow T5. Went in ok and took my ticket. Paid ok at a booth. Drove to the exit and at the first go the ticket was refused and pushed back out. The second attempt it swallowed it but did not lift the barrier. There followed a farcical intervention by the parking company who at first refused to believe I had paid. They insisted on dismantling the machine to recover used tickets. There followed 20 questions while they held the tickets to their chest. Eventually my rough entrance time and rough paying time were matched to a ticket which they held up triumphantly. You see, it was my fault, because I should have known that a correctly printed ticket has the Reg Nr on it. Apparently, I should have noticed that mine was blank. They then showed me proper tickets that had a reg nr in the bottom corner. Their logic was impeccable as they pointed to my blank corner with nothing on it. It went straight over their heads when I pointed out it would be more useful to print an error message. I then got a lecture on how the system works at exit...
"You see sir, de ticket says nothing but you car don't say nothing so the machine ize right"
So, there you are, If you drive a 159, remove the plate before you exit.
