I contacted the dealer via text message this morning to let him know that I was putting an email together to keep him up to speed with the repair situation.
He rang me shortly after this and asked where I was up to. I explained the symptoms again, and explained that the inlet manifold had been removed and cleaned, the EGR had been removed and cleaned and a new inlet gasket had been fitted to the EGR.
I then went on to tell him that I am still having issues, and that I have been advised that the EGR is sticking and that I need a new one.
He said, how much? I said £140 for an EGR fitted. He said "I'll give you £100 towards a new EGR valve".
I almost laughed my head off. Then I said, it's not quite right this, I need to send you all the details of the email to get you into the picture properly.
I can see this being hard work. A colleague of mine has told me that the dealer is likely to F me off as I haven't taken the car back to him, and just gone to a specialist off my own back. However, he was made aware of the issues before I had any work carried out, and he did say that I should let him know how I get on and that he would "contribute".
Also, I have received feedback from Customer Rights, which was comforting.
