I purchased my Brera from Veloces a year and a half ago, the purchase experience was fine, they even took my old car which was a bit of an ancient shed despite being mechanically sound, in part ex, only got a couple of hundred quid for it but considering my Brera was quite a rare spec and had just had a grand knocked off the screen price I was happy with how it panned out. The car had been serviced and MOT'd the week they reduced the price meaning I was able to deal and drive away in a little over an hour.
Car was and still is very well presented, the only mechanical issue I had within the first few days was a brake pad was jammed in one of the front calipers, my local Yorkshire based indie had to destroy the pad to get it out, when I notified Veloces they offered to go halves as "it's only one pad that had failed" I have to wonder if they had done the work if they would have only put one pad in, despite that I received a cheque in the post for the agreed amount.
After a few months and outside the 3 month warranty from Veloces the car started to exhibit some problems, a intermittent grumbling noise from the front offside. The problem could not be diagnosed by the indie I used locally at the time and their advice was to just let it get worse and bring it back then.
I recently took my car to a different local independent Italian car specialist after the problem got much worse and they discovered that there was very little lubrication anywhere in the suspension beyond what would have been applied at the factory when the car left for our sunny shores.
They lubricated all the joints and even the intermediate driveshaft bearing which was dry and this has transformed the feel of the car, it feels much more fluid on undulating roads.
I also had a rear brake service as the brakes have been squealing since pretty much the day I got the car on and off but it got much worse lately and on stripping them they discovered that the pads hadn't been chamfered and there was literally zero lubrication again. I can't imagine it was like this from the factory and remember the car was sold with a full service and MOT.
I have only done 6000 miles in the intervening period the car now has 23k on the clock and is a June 2008 build car.
So for me, my perception of Veloces is they do some things well and in other areas not so well.
To be honest many small businesses cut corners so I feel that Veloces are certainly no better or worse than their contemporaries.
I'd probably buy a car from them again if they had the car in the spec I was looking for, I'd just ensure that both parties were clear about what a full service entails as this can mean different things to different people.
My expectation would be that a service be a bit more than an oil and filter change and top up the fluids.
