My nightmare with Motoworld of Hindley!
Hi folks, just thought i'd share nightmare I'm having at the minute. It's a bit long winded, but i'd appreciate if people would read and give any advice!
Bought my first alfa, a very sexy Brera 3.2 Q4, from what seemed to be a reputable dealer, Motoworld, in Hindley near Wigan.
I paid a fair price and was extremely happy when I picked it up on 18/01/12. I fell in love with the car and was looking forward to miles of fun ahead. That was until on the 09/02/12 (22 days later), I couldn't get the car into gear! I notified the guys at Motoworld the next day, but could not get the car to them as it was undriveable. They asked me to get it looked at by a garage and let them know what the problem was. I couldn't get it to a garage until monday evening, so I asked if motoworld would possibly collect it, they said no.
I limped it to a garage here in Liverpool, in third gear, late Monday evening. They instantly diagnosed the problem as clutch related, but they couldn't do a full diagnosis until it had been stripped down. I informed Motoworld of this on that monday evening. They said they would send a truck to collect the car and have it diagnosed properly and repaired.
Motoworld sent a truck and collected the car on the wednesday afternoon. I never heard from them until the friday, when I called them to ask if the problem had been diagnosed. I was told that they thought it was related to the DMF, but the garage that they had taken it to were unwilling to undertake the job as they were unfamiliar with the Q4 system and didn't want to strip the car down.
The car was then taken to a garage in warrington who stripped the car down and diagnosed that it was a faulty DMF. The part was ordered direct from alfa in italy, as there were none in the uk, fair enough i thought. Although, I did not find this out until I called Motoworld on monday morning.
Since then, I have called motoworld each day to ask for a progress report, each day I have been told they know nothing, just that the part was due to be delivered on thursday and that they would also have to drop a clutch in as it would be pointless changing the flywheel and not changing the clutch too. I called again yesterday and they told me the part had arrived late Thursday and that I may be able to have the car back Friday evening. I asked them to call me if they heard anything. Again, I heard no feedback from them, so i called this afternoon. I asked if there was any news and I was told that there was none to report as they had not been able to contact the garage where my car was being repaired. I explained that I am struggling to work and live without a car at the moment, as I have not had any transport for 2 weeks now. I asked about the possibility of them taking the car back from me and me getting my money back, as i was not happy. I was sternly told ''that won't be happening!'' by the owner of Motoworld. I was also informed that the bill for the labour of the the repair would be given to me, as their warranty only covers major parts and not labour,, which I found outrageous! I told him that I would discuss the issue further with him when I go there in person (mainly because I was starting to lose my cool and didn't want to argue over the phone).
Since this afternoon, I have heard no more from motoworld and have sought advice from the citizens advice bureau.
All in all, I have had poor service, not one phone call in two weeks, and I think it is outrageous that I should have to foot the bill for labour. What's your opinions guys?
