I was facing the same choice and chose the 2.2.
The 2.2 handles better, rides better, uses less fuel, has cheaper road tax and if re-mapped and fitted with an induction kit is pretty quick and sounds very nice. It can suffer from hesitation problems but a re-map should cure that.
The V6 is quicker, sounds better and does not suffer from hesitation but it is hampered by the very long gearing and extra weight of the engine.
I am very happy with my 2.2 it is a proper drivers car with superb handling, masses of grip and enough performance to overtake safely and have some fun.
If you can find a 2.2 with the leather dash(it is standard on the V6) it is worth having because looks superb and really lifts the interior but they are very rare .
