Could mzhussein and RobMsport give a little feedback about Angel egr/dpf/remap treatment after more time passed? Any issues? I can't decide on which way to go - Angel's dpf drilling+egr blocking+remap or dpf drilling+egr full blanking plate + fixitsan OBD adapter for my 2006 Alfa Romeo 159 2.4JTDm with 89k miles on a clock...
It's getting on for 4 months now since Angel did mine. To clear things up , the DPF wasn't drilled , it was removed from the car , top cut open(bit that faces underside of chassis) , filter totally removed then welded up again. The EGR wasn't physically blocked , simply deleted within the ECU . Then it was remapped .
Since that time , I've checked mpg by brim to brim measuring on many occasions for short local running then average A road/B road running plus motorway cruising. My digital display is exactly 4 mpg over reading since remapping(previously under reading 2 mpg)
Motorway --- 45 mpg 50 to 90 mph where the 50 is due to some traffic but all top gear.
A & B roads --- 40 mpg 30 to 70 mph , top gear where possible.
Short local ---- 36 mpg , no more than 4th gear and 2 mile trips.
A silly blast ignoring economy over 30 miles ----- 23 mpg but what fun ! using all low gears hard.
Easy starting , no smoke that I can see either --- can't remember what it was like before the remap -- brilliant.
PM me for what I did today in it
FORGOT to say that I've been using only good standard deisel , no supermarket stuff , then adding 1ml per 1 litre of deisel in the tank of --- first Millers then Rhino . Both are cheaper than buying premium fuel plus performance improvement can be felt , whereas I felt nothing when running on premium deisel . On Rhino you add 3 x dose for first tank , 2 x dose second tank then onto the 1ml per litre deisel after that . I'm currently on the 2 x dose and can already feel response/grunt feels better ---- subjective but I'm convinced.
