Happened to me this morning, having only had my first Alfa for about a week, so naturally I was worried cos had never experienced this on any other car. It was fine after about 2 mins and mentioned it to an Alfa specialist when I booked it in for a service today. He said its pretty common, not just on Alfas

Be careful of leaving it in gear only (see my post). My driveway is quite steep so I now leave a brick behind a wheel. According to a mechanic I spoke to, only an automatic will lock the transmission/wheels when left in park. Leaving a manual car in gear doesn't, so you can't rely on this, especially with a heavy car on a steepish slope.

Mines on the level at home so in gear and handbrake off is fine but sometimes if it's really cold and water's somehow crept in , it will still freeze locked on . I just make a point of reversing just a metre before driving off and that sorts it out .

My handbrake works perfectly but...

Came home last night and parked on the drive. Got out, locked, and was at the front door when I heard a noise behind me. The car was sliding back down the drive with the rear wheels locked!

Fortunately, it followed my snowy tracks and missed the gate posts. It's now out on the road.
