Hmmm Lights staying on!

Have recently purchased a 57 plate alfa 159 2.4 diesel Ti with 43000 on the clock. Had it three weeks and within the last few days I have two warning lights coming on when driving, which stay on now. One is a triangle with a circle around it and a message "vehicle security system unavailable" the other is like a handbrake light and has a message "Hill Holder system unavailable" The car drives o.k. but sometimes the cruise control wont work either. Are these things related? Is it a major problem?

Is the battery OK - sounds like it could be on its way out.

Cruise control will more than likely be down to the brake light switch, located behind the brake pedal. As for the other issues needs plugging in really. As already said check the battery is ok.

Cheers, Laurence

Thanks Guys!
Took the car to local Fiat garage who hooked it up to diagnostics. Waited nearly three hours, not a clue! Then they phoned Alfa garage whilst looking under the car. Turns out that there is some sort of switch under the clutch pedal which has a 'plunger'. Apparently this 'plunger' can deactivate the cruise control and has some wiring behind it. They checked this on the suggestion of Alfa and found that the 'plunger' was sticking causing something to bend which in turn trapped or loosened wiring to other bits of the car and not activating the cruise control. Quick job then to loosen off, free any trapped wiring connector, realign the plunger, grease and lubricate. Car working great now, and no warning lights!! Hopefully cured!
