Hi all! right some updated news on this matter......... ps thanks for all the kind advice! I'll try to explain the best i can....!
Ok, so i managed to take the car into mangoletsi's for its warranty work. (Tracking, drive shafts and squeaky clutch pedal) I'm still annoyed that i had to pay for insurance on their courtesy car! They don't insure customers on there traders insurance.
I got a call quite early in the morning from them saying that because the work totalled to almost £800 they would have to get the warranty guy to come and view the car.......and he may even reject the claim. The car was in on friday but the guy couldn't asses the work until monday! This for me was inconvenient as i now had to pay for the courtesy car all weekend OR drive back to knutsford (from stoke) to pick up my car and then go back on monday to get the work done and assessed which i couldn't do anyway because of work commitments!! What a ******-up!! They could have booked me in at the same time as the warranty guy coming down. Not making lots of journey's!
My argument was that they themselves diagnosed the faults BEFORE christmas so they must have known the time to do the job and the cost.
And also the problem came about when the salesman sold me the car UN-FIT for purpose in the first place! And there answer.........? "Well, it is a used car." hahaha What a joke Mangoletsi's are! I tried to make a complaint to the dealer principle but what do you know.......he wasn't there!
The tire issue what we talked about is another no-go. They shrugged off the idea that the wrong tires had been fitted. They said they were "ok."
Tracking, again the service manager said all 159 and brera's have the problem of the inside inner edge wearing out. He was basically saying this is normal and there is nothing you can do.
So after all this i didn't get very far and i ended up stressed with a big headache. They said that they could pay for my courtesy car until monday and actually deliver my 159 back to my house. I said B***ocks! YOur only offering me this because of the complaint....You should have done it in the first place as it's a major inconvenience and it's under warranty anyway!!
I left at this point and i don't think i'll ever go back there. Poor service from mango's. After all the "talk" from the the salesman about customer satisfaction and "good relationships".......it means NOTHING!!! They just want the sale!
So i'd advise you really not to go there. Still fuming now!
Anyway, i took it to a local fiat/alfa dealer (i didn't do this before as i bought the car from mango's).
The service manager came out with me to identify the problems and pointed out that my car has actually got Spacial Aston Martin tyres!!!!!!!
There is a 3 digit code on the tyre wall that i think reads "AM9". I just laughed at this point but he did say that they would be ok as long as the tyre pressures were correct. (Apparently the early 159 tyre pressures in the handbook were wrong and so they have since been revised)
He identified the the tracking problem but he said he wouldn't do it as it's not a warranty issue (mango's "attempted" to do it as i go the car from there)
He said that it marginally pulls to the left but blamed the road camber. I think i will get the tracking done myself at a specialist alfa garage and get it set to "0" as many are saying on here. But he did say that if i do that then the driving characteristics will differ and what you loose on one side, you'll gain on the other.
I don't know!!!!!
He did say that the driveshafts need replacing and amazingly, he identified the squeaky clutch as the master cylinder was on its way out!!! So another problem mango's FAILED to see.
The car is now booked in at the same as the viewing from the warranty company so it should be done all on the same day. Why mango's couldn't do this i don't know.
I do love the car but it's the aftersales that let's you down. I'm not sure if people on here have had good things to say about mango's but my experience has been a sour one to say the least. They seem very keen to sell the car to you but not very organised in repairing it!
I hope that this local dealer will restore my faith in main dealers. Not sure if i've missed anything out but feel free to comment or ask anything. Thought it would be good to give an account of what can happen and what may not happen. haha
