Any chance to to fit them with RGB led's instead ? To produce white light switch them all on, but if you're going to have animations, which are illegal here at least, then may as well have coloured ones too

by the way it is not a problem to have these running all the time in the UK. The laws on lighting only specify the colour of light, and that they should be used at times of reduced visibility. Thats all.

I'd definitely be up for a 'Group Mod' if the opportunity came up to do this mod - keep me posted if there's an opportunity!

I can provide complete kits, you will have to organize yourself. As I said I will have new kits ready early Spring 2013. I'm in contact with Jay (actually need to refresh it) so he could be kind of local supplier. Ofc if he will agree
More info in December.

Some pictures of the kit:

Thanks Jay, I'm doing my best

@FixitSan
I'm not planning to extend it with RGB functionality. The reason is simple: there is no good enough quality RGB rings on the market. Just compare my one (in magnification) with the RGB I found:

Yes I'm definitely interested too. But would really need someone to install it for me, or the kit would just sit there for the next few years...

Some kind of exchange service on the headlight units would be ideal

Good point, then there would only be a need for one extra set of lights.

Hence the group mod concept 1 set of lights, 1by1 group mod, limited impact other than install + many hands make light work!!

That's still only really going to work if someone is doing the actual modifications and getting them out to people (and obviously being paid for it). I would suspect most of us either lack the time, skills or desire to rip apart their own lights (or all three in my case!).

Great kit, shame I have a 147 or I'd be all over it! Any chance of doing something for the 147 YonasH? Although it wouldn't look as good...

If we can get enough people with the right skills interested, it should be viable. I am however, interested in an RGB version, which requires a different approach than the one YonasH has taken. Unfortunately, this mod is way down the list for me as I have a new business I am launching, and have already committed to a sport wagon version of the cylon for someone so I need to get that sorted before I start any more prototyping or light modding

we could take one part of the process each and form a kind of production chain !

Agreed. The thing that stopped me in my tracks at the start of this project was headlight disassembly. I got a second hand headlight from a breaker and tried to take it apart, but could not find a way to do it safely without cutting. The heat up, cool down, oven approach that works for 99% of headlights doesn't for ours as the glue they used to bond the headlights together is essentially stronger than the plastics its bonding !?! gotta love alfa!

So its all about the dremil ...I just ran out of time to pursue the project.

My big idea was to use these RGB 3w LED's to feed light bars (like the new audi ones). That way I could colour match the Kelvin scale of the Rings to the HID kits, and, have an orange turn signal function.

Anyway, the kit YonasH has built looks great and is ready to go for all those that want to go this route.

Benny - I spent hundreds(!) of hours on this project, so sorry, I will not do it for 147...
If you would like to do it yourself, you need to notice that smallest ring available is 71mm diameter, so actually you could only "wear" them on outside, low beam lights. So at the end it will not look even close to my project. But if you will find a way to put three rings (or other led sources of light) inside the unit, I could help you with the module (by adjusting mine).

Phil - not too many things to chain there Most of the modification process is step by step.

Jay - you don't need to worry about disassembling any more. It's all planed and described in detailed manual. I just need to translate it.
Regarding "big ideas". My one is to have each single led controlled independently There is 372 of them in total! Huge task, infinity possibilities

...V6 sound - pricelsess!

As mentioned before, I did finally get a complete halo kit from these guys:
CCFL

However, as you'll notice by my absence on the forum I've been a bit busy of late. Anyway, can't see me getting round to fitting these any time soon so if someone else wants to have a go using a purpose made kit (with instructions) please let me know and I'll sell for what I paid (100).

Can you just give a bief synopsis of how you fit them? I'm very interested, but not sure my technical abilities are up to it....

Sorry for the delay (sick child).

As in above posts, you need to take the lenses off the headlights and then they just need to be stuck around the outside of each light front. There's instructions in the box on how to get the lenses off. All 6 lights and necessary wiring is in the kit and it looks as per the website I linked to earlier.

Thanks. Tempted but worried from previous talk that 'take the lenses off' is actually a lot harder than it sounds.
