They are the same type of LED as used in the original rings and the quantities look about right so they are as close as I can tell without actually buying a set and plugging them in!

Alfa Romeo Brera

Good morning everyone
I'm new in this forum and for me it's the first time I join in a forum.
I'm Federico from Italy and I've a red Alfa Brera...
I saw this forum and I fell in love of the "Halo" project. I read in a post that the halo headlights are homemade and I wanted to have information about it.
Thank you all

No idea but people have managed to split everything, even old original ones now.

You don't need to stick to OEM lights.

thank you JabawokJayUK, though I understood not so much of the link you wrote me ... unfortunately I'm not good at DIY, and so I wanted to ask if there is someone in this forum able in DIY that can assemble for others the headlight whit "halo" lamps and the cost of it.

thanks everyone for the help

If you go to Facebook and join the group "alfabook" there is a guy called chris who can build you a set.

They need to be heated. Heat gun or oven baked is best

So, the rings have arrived!! Haven't tested or anything yet but have noticed that the largest ring is 100mm in diameter, compared to 95mm with the other supplier.

Anyone who's done this mod know whether that will be a problem in getting it into the light?

I haven't bought my headlights yet - am getting them from here: Alfa Romeo 159 | Bonnets | Headlamps | Front Bumpers | Rear Bumpers, anyone bought stuff from here before?

Cheers all.

I think 100mm is too big but worth a try.

159 1.9 JTDm

Watching this with interest. Love to do the Halo mod, but just need to know the easiest / most cost effective way of doing this.

Can I have some clarification though on a few things...

1.) The Cob / Halo eyes, are they controllable from inside the car, i.e off / on?
2.) Do they overide the actual headlamps i.e bulbs / hids or do they merely act as an additional light source?
3.) Can you get Halo eyes which are just LED rings, switchable from inside the car but without interfering with the light internals / workings?
4.) Any issues with MOTs?

Thanks.

Thanks Jay. Thought they might be. The seller didn't specify the sizes but said they were suitable for the 159, as a set. I'll get the lights ordered and see, and if not get back in touch with them.

To test whether they work do I just wire up to a battery?

Update for those still wanting controllers.

I am working to alter the design slightly to allow better protection against "installation errors" ;P The amount of controllers I have swapped that have a blown voltage regulator is significant enough to alter the design and protect against getting the wires mixed up!

no, 100mm if fit well .
Installation method is not the same .
94mm is put in the hole .
100mm is Install on the hole .
like the picture
Please pay attention to the installation method

So it looks like they install slightly differently but I won't know for sure until I get the headlights.

Collecting all the bits for this. Replacement headlights arrived today, but both damaged . But getting them swapped tomorrow hopefully. Am going to get them all prepped as soon as everything arrives so that when the controllers are ready they'll be good to go. Well that's the plan anyway.

Here's a question (and apologies if it's been answered in this thread already!)

My car has the optional Xenons and I'd be reluctant to attempt dismantling these bodies. Assuming I bought a set of standard lights to split open for the halo lights does anyone know if it's possible to transfer the Xenon components across to the new assemblies?

Cheers

Guy

Well, headlight cooking started this evening. I was hoping the light would come apart as easy as on the vids but I don't think I left them in long enough to get the black rubber glue stuff soft. As a result have cracked some of the black plastic bits (not a major thing I don't think).

Have given up for this evening and will have another go tomorrow
