I'm assuming that's the reason you're just selling the controllers, rather than the kits? Not worth making everyone a kit and selling it.

Yup

The time to pre-assemble the parts alone, cut cables, make up power supplies etc would be enough to push the budget over the edge for people. Also, I want nothing to do with the warranty! Its a community project so if your ring fails, its between you and china, not me

The cost of my development, parts only, excluding the hundreds of man hours into the project is several thousand pounds. I technically take a loss on every controller if you account for this and wouldn't make any kind of profit until I had sold over a hundred, which will never happen.

I simply did this for my own use, and to learn some new skills, and it kind of escalated

That's fair enough.

In which case - If anyone is thinking of selling their car with the HALO lights then please let me know and I'll buy them for far more than the value they will add (if any) to the sale price of the car.

I have Xenons anyway so would look to swap my units over plus cash your way (will drive to you) so you can still sell the car with Xenons and not lose resale value.

Would still still want someone to quote me to build and send completed units though. Does no-one want to make a little bit of money on the side!?

Here's a pic of what you're all working on

Was getting dark so because they're so bright, it's a bit of a glowing blur

You can do it mate I had zero electrical knowledge AT ALL before this

There's nothing really technical, just takes time to make all the connections and wiring... and anything you're not sure of you can post here and you'll get help

I will be willing to build them for you, but I am very far away, postage will probably cost more then build itself. If you are ever comming to Serbia we could swap our headlights on the spot, and later I will build mine (yours previously) later again.

I'm quite looking forward to this project.

One thing that initially concerned me, but now doesn't, is the total cost - which is, presumably, most peoples' concerns. I put my name down before totting up the cost of parts, and I had an 'ah, bugger' moment when I did.

However I tend to frequent the YouTube vids and few pics of completed sets which is why I haven't taken my name off the list!

As I'm sure has been mentioned before on this epic thread, a hearty well done to you guys for setting this project up, and thanks awfully for flogging the stuff to us at a bloomin' good price! *hear hear, clink of glasses etc*

I'm unlikely to use a lot of the tools again, if anyone is interested in picking some up cheap?

If anyone is interested I'll list what I've got later.....

When we get to 10 names, payment will be requested and a batch will be created.
When you say a batch will be created are we getting all the parts needed or just controllers?

Its just the controllers. You will have to buy all the other parts direct from the respective manufacturers as per the parts list.

Cool just wanted to clarify that. I can get most of the electrical parts through work cheaper.

Halo's have arrived ... (Parts are coming together nicely in readiness for the remaining 4 folks to sign up) ... The extra light will come in handy on my winter commute

Controllers for sale...

Hi guys, due to my car deciding to do an Alfa and eat money, I'm not going to go ahead with my halo build... so, I have a couple of controllers for sale, still in the box that Jay sent them to me. They are very well made, but I have no idea if they work, they are totally untouched and as delivered in their 'Halo project' box.

Feel free to IM me and make me an offer! First come first served... I'm only looking to recoup the cost not make any money, so I don't really want to put this on the 'Bay, would prefer to go to an enthusiast on this forum. Apologies to all up front if this delays the next batch by one person... I couldn't think of a good way of doing this without causing grief .. but needs must

Might be a daft question, is there any difference in spec/quality between the 1st and 2nd batch of controllers (that we're waiting for) or are they identical??

Thanks
