I've probably got access to all the tools - joys of father being an officer and electronics engineer in the RAF for a lot of years, collected a lot of stuff along the way.

I am reckoning you can bump 200 off that list for the headlights (if you chose to operate on your own or happen to have a spare set) and the relay if (like me) you're not bothered about the delay relay.

I so need to catch up with my projects list for the 159, it keeps getting bigger, not shorter! lol

Totally agree. That list is the worst case scenario. You could actually do it for <200 if you have all the tools and are happy to work on your own set of head lights

Yeh no doubt.

Headlights are fairly easy to operate on from previous experience. Once you've overcome the seal its child's play.

Looking forward to getting stuck in.

There are no "official" instructions yet, but its actually quite simple in terms of an actual process:

1) split headlights
2) insert rings
3) solder / crimp into the existing wires inside the headlight
4) add controllers
5) wire up power from battery

The "hard" part is splitting the headlights, Coxy has the details on that side of things.

Its no great secrete.
A quick look on You tube will give you the gist of things.

The main issue is the fine tuning of the temperatures as the glue melts at a higher temp than the casing.
Your looking at a temp of around 155-175 C. Its a balance between melting the glue and the casing, the original supply headlights are are *****.

Haven't been getting email updates on this topic for some reason.

I'm still in.

And still willing to pay someone with the right tools to do it for me too...

THIS IS AWESOME!! YOU'RE A LEGENDS JAY AND COXY!!! Definitely count me in!!

Are you just supplying the rings or the xenon lamps /bulbs as well (so it's a full light kit? rings, HID / xenon head light bulbs), I'm a little bit unsure.

Also will this go straight on to my 2007 Alfa romeo Spider .. is there any difference between the installation on a 159 and spider?? Will i have to remove my front bumper?

In terms of instructions. Are you able to upload a youtube video that shows step by step??

Just another major question are any of the electronics used not going to be compatible with my australian Alfa Romeo spider??? and i'm just wondering how these light functions connect so they will be operable from dashboard?

I know someone of these questions may sound dumb, just want to make sure i'm as careful as possible.

last question is how easy is it to destroy your own personal headlights if you are doing a DIY on your own headlamps?

Cheers

Its in the parts list with links. Its an ebay special from china, <20 quid. A "Buck/Boost" style adjustable supply that gets set to 11.5v. It regulates the supply up and down from an input voltage of 6-30v.

PM me your email address and i'll send you the spreadsheet.

haha, you're welcome

I will supply just the controllers & a parts list with links to the suppliers of everything else you need so you can buy direct from them. It will fit anything, 159, Brera, Spider etc as they are all the same car with the same headlights. Yes you will have to take your bumper off to fit the headlights but if you buy a set of new headlights to work on you can do all the work off the car then juts fit them once they are ready. You could even get a local garage to take your bumper off and fit them for you if you have run all the electronics in advance.

I will pull some guides etc together based on what I have, and Coxy may be able to help in this regard as well, but its not that difficult once the headlights are separated. Its just a bit fiddly and time consuming.

I have added your name to the confirmed list, so when I get 10 confirmed, I will contact each of you to arrange a payment mechanism and get the order placed with the supplier for the new boards.

Artemis 159
MarcG 159
Alecci 159
Morkey 159
manphibian 159
WiSE 159

m-a-r-k-o 156

Marko, you would only need 1 controller for 4 rings so 50 to you, unless you want 1 controller per side for ease of installation, in which case, its 100 as per the 159/Brera/spider gang.

Let me know who is still in or out and we can look at payment options.

Cheers

Could you post a link already? Think it would be helpfull for others to decide if they can do the mod on their own or not?!

Maybe there is even the possiblilty to start something as a group in different areas were everybody can hlp eachother with the mod? Settle a date with people in "close" distance for example.

If I see the DIY manual/wiki I'll for sure decide if I can assist some people in the Netherlands!

I had some problems with the wiki software I chose (they wanted me to pay money to unlock features, sneaky sneaky) so going to deploy a different one. Should be up by morning but I am also trying to work

The boards are really small now. they would go in a padded envelope, so shipping to the Netherlands should be no more than 20.

That would all be perfect!! Is it possible to post a picture of the new control unit? Maybe next to a phone or pack of sigarettes, just for clarification?

Thanks!

They have not been manufactured yet. I only have diagrams & schematics at this stage. The board has been designed to fit in a 82 x 57 x 33mm ABS plastic box that can be located under or near the headlight.

The old boards were 116x50x30mm and needed a much larger box as it was not an ideal size to work with.
