I went through similar as you four months back nd ended up with a 2008 facelift carbonio black 2.2 with pano roof, electric memory seats, blue and me and the 18" cross spokes for a little over 12k, the car had a title over 16,000 miles on it when I picked it up and so far it's been to the garage once for a stuck brake pad.
I came from a 147 GTA and after a short period fell out of love with the Brera due to some niggles but have found that for my driving to work on a and b roads it's been a nice p,ace to be, certainly makes you feel special.
I chose the 2.2 because I anted to take a break from massive costs after three and a half years with the GTA suckling at my bank balance. The Brera 2.2 doesn't have great mpg, I'm barely getting 25, but it's quick enough, handles well,is dry comfortable and looks fabulous from the right angles.
So I'm happy enough with the choice.
Hope this helps.
