Inertia switch???

Hiya folks!
Look what I found under the bonnet (see pic #1) while trying to familiarise myself with location of various bells and jingles over there.
After some logical thinking and head scratching I've found the place it should've been plugged in (see pic #2).
Some research gave me this (pic#3) and lead me into more head scratching.
If inertia switch suppose to disconnect battery why is my angel still happy to run and perform with this thing dangling around???
I can't see it just coming loose somehow so then who and why has pulled it out?!
I've plugged it back in and car starts and drives fine. No messages whatsoever. All of this head scratching makes my skin bleed so any advise is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I'd be curious to know what happened with this. I've been getting false 'Inertia Switch Intervened' messages (Inertial Switch Intervened), and unplugging it has so far caused them to stop. That's likely why the previous owner did it too. I'm wondering how you're getting along now?
