cam chain woes again me thinks

Well I am not sure if anyone else is a little p##sed off with their engine on the 2.2 but I am getting close to flogging mine off its become that annoying

About 2 weeks ago a check engine light came on and it hasnt done this for 2 yrs and I never thought it would do it again inmy life time with the car?? but hey? ho? its not to be!!
I took it to my local specialist and the fault was read and consequently cleared and surprise surprise cam sensor (exactly the same fault that occurred 10 minutes into my ownership 2 yrs ago ) last time it was covered by warranty and the cam chain was explained to me as stretched and was replaced and the sensors also just incase?? and now it needs £1200 minimum to do the same thing again as this is the only way fix this ????????????
whhhhhatttttttttt!!! this car is 5 yrs old in january and really shouldnt need 2 cam chains in all of its 52000 miles off being used christ I had a saab 93 on a w plate that cleared 170000 miles and was still on its original chain and that was a 90s engineered turbo...

I have been informed the same asthe first occurrence that this is due to the sensor tolerence being far to low but why is that my fault and that the car would be fine and to carry on as normal but I have the annoying beep and check engine light EVERY TIME I use it aaaarggghhh!!

the car has no tail off in what little performance it has !! and there are no extra noises from the engine infact its as quiet as a mouse and i put the first ltr of oil in last week in the last 5000 miles which i think is acceptable and i use selenia star to boot!!

does any body have any suggestions other than to set fire to it and am I the only 1 ????

Decidedly strange in a very alfa romeo way:

Had the same issue 2.2 petrol?
Got the belts changed under warranty at 54k, now just under 58k and the engine light comes on imntermittently. I've been told it's the sensor not the belts so either take it to an indie to clear the fault with a engine management check / check the sensors or...burn it!
I did think it could have been dodgy fuel as when I use Tesco light comes on...use Shell no light (but it is not really that simple) as was more coincidence I think

Could be just the sensor. (Mine was.)

Call ARUK and moan at them.

We do cam chain kit replacement for £550, there will be a couple of oil seals alsorequired

My opinion is the cause of this are the oil change intervals are far to long and the oil jets that lubricate the chain get blocked

I had one in for a chain change the other day and it had full service history with 40k and when we took the cam cover off everything was black like the car had done 100k without and oil change

Thanks guys
I do love this car and I have owned it longer than any other car I have had!! but this is surely in this day an age a bit bloody ridiculas?? I am going to get it looked at again and I have had a winge at aruk too so will see?
but the car is driving and sounding near as good as 2 yrs ago so I am assuming it isnt an end of days scenario for the engine???

Even if it is the chain again the engine will drop into limp mode before any catastrophic damage is done.
