Changing Alfa 159 Alloy Wheel Size
I was hoping someone could give me some info on down sizing my Alloy wheels. I own an Alfa 159 SW with the 19" TI 235/40R19 alloys, I was hesitant when purchasing this model due to the wheels but loved everything else about the car. Don't get me wrong the wheels are lovely but I live in the country and on quite a lot of our roads they give a harsh ride, almost unusable on some roads resulting in considerably slow driving, plus they cost an arm and a leg to replace. I've duffed up the front left on 2 curbs over the last couple of years so would like to replace for smaller rims with much larger tyres.
I'm looking at 16" alloy wheels then having them fitted with much more affordable 215/60R16 tyres, that should give me a similar size with a speed difference of only 0.9% so shouldn't drastically affect the speedo reading, plus I like the look of the bigger meatier tyres. Would this be possible, would I need any kind of spacers etc? Also, would it drastically affect handling as in would it wallow around too much, and would it cause any problems with tyre wear etc? Is it even possible?
I was originally looking at 156 alloys but just seen a few other posts stating PCD, Bore and Offset values aren't compatible, I've seen after market 16" alloys with PCD options of 5x110, and it sounds like the offset needs to be between 30 and 42, so my original question still stands, would this be possible? Thanks.
