Lambda Sensors and Remaps

Hello all

This is a follow on question to a post I started regarding poor fuel consumption on my 2.2 Brera. The exhaust tips are a bit more sooty than normal, could the Lambda sensor cause this even though no warning lights have come on? The car runs fine except for the poor fuel consumption, has anyone replaced their sensor and seen an improvement? One last question, can you have different types of remap i.e. a remap just for better fuel consumption and not performance? I have only just bought the car and intend to keep it ( cant sell it until I pay the loan off! ) but the fuel consumption is really taking the shine off the car.
