Leather door surround has come away & smoke smell.

Hi guys,

Two things, I was cleaning ever nook and cranny in the cabin today to try and get rid of the smoke smell from the previous owner. I lighting scrapped a tooth pick around the window controls on the drivers side door and some of the leather has now come away (didn't notice at the time). Any ideas how I can DIY fix that? I don't know if leather glue would work as there is nothing leather the opposite side to attach to. I'm reluctant to try any random glue as I don't know how it will react with the leather.

And secondly... Any tips on getting rid of the smoke smell?

Would a carpet cleaner vacuum be okay to use of the roof lining? Or would I need to use something a little more sensitive?

The roof liner's outer fabric can be detached off easily if you use a vacuum cleaner, best to treat it very very lightly.

For smoke smell, you can try to put a pack of charcoal (500g) in the car for a week or two. And then a bag (200g) of fresh coffee bean after that. Works for me previously.

You could also use used grinded coffee.

Scott the white wood glue you can from most DIY places works well! It turns clear once dry and is easy to peel any excess off after it's dry if you over do it slightly.

Cheers guys,

Somebody recommended bowls of white vinegar which are currently in the car. If this fails I will try the charcoal & coffee method.

Colins, how is the roof liner removed? Do you think using a wet vac on it would be okay?

Mikey, thanks for you advice. Worked a treat, thanks.
