Clutch Clunk (1.9 JTDM)
I test drove a 159 1.9 JTDM today and loved it. Its had a refurbished gear box so I was listening for noises or any signs of anything untoward when changing gear on the test drive. I noticed that when ever I changed gear particularly 1-4 I could hear a clunk noise when I raised the clutch petal back up. The noise wasn't particularly loud but audible, and sounded like it was central, about a foot or 2 in front of the dash. I figured that this was likely the clutch plates engaging, would that be correct?
I remember hearing this on a previously owned Mondeo ST TDCI but only when I had the windows down. I can't hear it on my current car but I know that has lots of sound proofing around the foot well.
I'm probably being over cautious and picking because the gear box has been replaced but better be safe than sorry. Would you say this was normal?
I appreciate it if people could listen out for this next time they get in their cars.
Other than that I really like the car & would like to look at buying it if all checks out on here.
