Warning light on after remap
Hi I'm after some advice.
I have just had a dpf egr removal and remap on my 1.9 jtdm at a place in Birmingham, I wont name the place but it was £300 plus vat.
It drove fine on the trip back to Cardiff and am quite pleased with the extra power but then the engine check light came on so I checked it using fiat ecu scan and it showed P0401 egr flow low, I rang the guy that did it and he advised me to remove the egr blanking plate he knew I had fitted a few days earlier to cure the low down flat spot, this had brought the light on but had cured the fault so was a big factor in getting the work done as the egr valve was faulty.
I questioned why the blanking plate would cause this as if the egr was dissabled and closed properly there would be no flow for the plate to stop but he said he would contact the company who did the remap..? I thought he had done it.
So today I took the plate off and also cleaned out the egr valve and made sure it is closing properly including taking the solinoid off and cleaning inside that, then put it all back together, cleared the code but again the light comes on after the second start up, same code as before.
So I rand him again, this time I'm told maybe the manifold or throttle body is dirty, told him I fitted a new manifold and carefully cleaned the throttle body about 4 weeks ago.
So now he is getting onto the map company again.
I asked him that if the egr is switched off properly, It is off I can see that on fiat scan then why would the ecu be looking for a flow and then raising a fault when it doesnt get one but he doesnt know..
One thing I have noticed that on fiat ecu scan the egr valve position is showing as 4% open but its not, when it was apart I even pored some thinners into one side of the valve and only a very small amount seeped through so maybe if the ecu is seening it as slightly open it is expecting a flow, tomorrow I'm going to try removing the solinoid from the valve with it still conected and see if the 4% open changes.
Has anybody else had similar problem, I'm really wish I hadnt bothered getting it done by them now but couldnt justify the £700 for the better remap..
There were a few other thing that I wasnt happy with them doing but I wont go into them yet as I just want to state facts.
