Right, No. 2 son gave my wife his old laptop. Great I thought, can sneak the free copy of Fiatecuscan down, get a vagcom thingy cable and talk to the car.
Of course, the first problem is I have not got a clue what I am doing. Anyway, went ahead and ordered a cable from Fleabay and downloaded the driver thingy from the disc supplied. I thought I'd better read the "read me first" thing so I did. It said something about this version or whatever would not connect to CAN. Well it obviously doesn't 'cos I connected up with the cable to the car and pressed connect on the Fiatscan and it came up with unable to connect and another lot of gobbledegook.
Obviously I've bought the wrong cable, driver or whatever.
Can somebody please tell me what cable/driver thingy to get.
I thought all this computerisation stuff was supposed to be clever in that you just plugged things in and it would sort everthing out itself.
It looks like I need proper destructions starting from scratch. Such as when you wake up in the morning and want to get out of bed, first place one foot on the floor, then the next and stand up if you're able to etc.
Oh yes, the cable I bought was a VAGCOM usb with a 409.1 version thingy. I've tried to search for stuff but people just keep talking about OBD's, ALM's, STD's or whatever which just leaves me blank.
Any help would be most appreciated.
