here's another thought to fan the flames a little..
We can say that there's not a significant difference in dry road performance between the Accereras and the more expensive tyres. but that in the wet the expensive ones perform much better. We also know that wet braking performance is proportional to remaning tread depth.
If somebody spends £200 a corner on the Pirellis, they're may not decide to change them until they're down to 2mm, whereas at £70 a corner they could change the Acceleras at 3-4mm to a new set which would offer far superior wet braking than the more expensive tyre that has 2-3mm tread remainning
