I had the dreaded limp mode today while on a 130km/hr freeway. Not first time I have had an Italian car in limp mode though, although Alfa limp mode is so much worse than any other make I have been in. No power at all, even in first gear. Flooring it in 1st gear and it is barely reaching 2000rpm, same with all the gears. Pulled over, restarted engine, still in limp. Disconnected battery for 10 minutes all the while turning on all the interior lights and stabbing ther brake to deplete the rest of the power in the cars sytem, restarted and still in limp mode.
Then decided to limp it home (a good 40km away) and as I just started driving and flooring it as I was approaching the on ramp for the freeway, the power kicked back in and it took off like it was possessed. Strange thing was there was no dash warning lights at all, no strange beeps or noises, idle was fine etc.... taking it back to dealer I bought it from 2 weeks ago and he will put iit on computer to see exactly what it is.... under 2 weeks and already an issue. oh well I still love my Alfa GT diesel lol.
I also put in premium diesel today and gave it a bit incase something was blocked and also to see if it might have been overboost or something. No issues since. It seemed to have gone into limp mode while I was cruising economically at about 110-115km/hr on the freway trying to get maximum milage out of the car (as it is new and trying to see how far a tank will get me).
Any ideas? What is the DPF and I have read up on pipe leaks from the turbo and the Mass Air Flow thingy.... whith my symptoms does anyone know what is more likely to be the culprit?
On Monday we should know for sure, but want to see who on here gets the issue right lol
