Re Towbar for 159
I recently fitted a Westfalia Detachable Towbar to my 2007 Sportswagon- and I'm pleased to bits with it.
Key reason for choosing this particular model- I didn't want to ruin the overall look at the rear.
Being Detachable- when removed there is no visable towbar or hitch.
I will admit I was hesistant when I had to cut a small hole at the very bottom of the bumper-but this is not visable when the bumper is fully replaced.
The whole process of fitting, is not for the faint-hearted- I fitted mine over a couple of days with the invaluble help of my Mechanic Friend and his Workshop/Ramps etc.
Firstly, carefully removing the rear interior panels and bumper assembly, ensuring the clips and fixings remain intact and in particular remembering where they all go back.
Then removing the rear bumper support cross member, rear exhaust box & heat shield(s).
Next, offering up the towbar and drilling location holes- bolting on,
Followed by with 1st Fixing the wiring loom- then reassembled all the above.
I then was able to take my time, 2nd Fixing the electrics at my own leisure- the following weekend.
I highly recommend using the Dedicated Wiring Loom from 'Right Connections', although more expensive- definately worth paying the extra.
The Kit comes complete with all you need, the wires are all the correct lengths- (no unnecessary cutting) along with rubber grommits and OEM Connections to fit with the cars Existing Wiring Loom.
I'll try and get some pic, with and without Towbar
