159 rattle mystery.

I love my 2.4 JTDM , except the fact that rattles continue to annoy and frustrate. When travelling at more than 100 km/h , irrespective of how smooth road surface is , a creaking sound eminates from what seems to be from left front door area. It has been at dealer for two days and they advised they are unable to trace it . when glass is lowered partiallly it seems to disappear , but then with wind noise coming in window it is hard to be certain.

It seems to be wind related , otherwise why only at + 100 km/h. Has anyone else had a similar situation. I have given up on dealers , and most likely is something small that i could remedy myself.

What year is your car Earlier 159s suffered from creaking windscreens which can be solved by applying silicone sealant around the windscreen under the black trim, or in some cases removal and realignment of the windscreen.

I know someone else mentioned lately about the front door seals at the rear being prone to working loose and creating a wind noise.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Hope you get it sorted out

Yes - check out the threads on creaking windscreens. The creak comes from the top of the windscreen but it can sound like it's coming from anywhere. Easy to fix and in my case, after a few treatments over several months it went away completely.
