Edit: My mistake, were actually 13SMD, however, they were longer. My new ones are shorter, and thus closer to the length of the originally bulb, so should work with the reflectors better.

I can't find them anywhere now, but was wondering what diameter the light housing opening size was if I wanted to get some of the LEDS with even more LEDS on,
Ive just put some of them in mine, very nice. got them from amazon.

nice and bright and a good match for 5000k hids, but nowhere near overpowering the indicators

Hi Jay I hope you know or maybe someone else thats done the resistor upgrade.

Can you please tell me which colours are the wires for brake, indicator and ground please?

I've re-watched the video where Jay scotch blocks onto the loom but it isn't clear. The stop / tails I have only generate canbus errors when you put your foot on the brake and the indicators go wild

I've had enough of the standard bulbs I need to finish me LED upgrades.

Hi OOS, the way I did it was to make an extension that went in-between the original connectors. If you look under the heading "Rear Clusters" in this guide:

Jabablog Alfa 159 TI Full LED Conversion

You can see how I went about it. The same needs to happen for the indicators. The guide linked has a detailed explanation of every area of the car and the parts you would need.

Thanks for that mate I checked your excellent guide as well but this doesn't give the colours either
Or I'm being stupid and have missed it.

I just wanted to scotch block the resistors in to be honest

Yeah, I didn't list the colours as its easy to see which is which as they all link to a solid metal strip that routes off to the bulb. 1 for negative, and 1 each for tail & stop/tail so 4 metal strips. if you pull out the bulb holder you can literally see each of the metal strips going from the bulb contact point back to the connector block.

The main issue with the scotch block approach is you need to scotch block 3 x resistors to the negative wire, and that's not that easy to do with the space and wire available, hence why it was easier for me to make an extension using standard spade terminals on the bench in the warmth of the house then just add them into the car when done

Brief LED update. I decided to have a browse around ebay a few weeks back and stumbled across these:

2013 Newest 30W 1156/Ba15s High Power CREE LED White Reverse Backup Light DRL

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3210598866...84.m1497.l2649

Although a little pricey, I ordered a pair. After a long and slow journey from China, they arrived today. It took five minutes to swap the reverse light, which is what I bought them for, although as they are a pair I now have a spare,

They a re much, much brighter than the 5w cree I had in the reverse light position before as you can see from the pictures.

Did anyone tried these bulbs? If they fit into hole, they could be much better than all those eBay T10 bulbs as I find them almost un-noticeable in daily light.

Your correct there is no suitable H7 LED replacement to my knowledge at this moment in time.

It comes down the size of bulb, focusing lenses and the heat sink required for any where near the light out put.

I'm sure Jaba will elaborate.

thanks!

I spotted those philips ones that are meant to be an improvement, but for 35! will stick to standard.

TBH for 35 you really want to go down the HID route. Have a look on ebay H7 35watt or even the 55watt versions, you'll never look back.

Electrics are the work of the devil as far as I'm concerned and I can manage it easily. Its a simple plug and play.

More than enough of us on here to provide help and photos.

Ditto, very simple, hardest bit is the little metal bit you undo to get the old bulb out

Badge Light LED 4th brake, extraheadlight.

Hey guys,

Has anybody used these successfully at all?

82mm BMW 3 5 7 Series X5 X6 Trunk Emblem Background LED Light Kit

I believe the badge on 159 is same size as on bmw both boot and front grill.

I would like to get a red one around boot release badge 4th Brake Light would be awesome wired into stop light circuit. Also as these would also be easiest to reach i think, any ideas on how to do this well? Would i need resistors to avoid canbus errors on stop lights too.

And a white one for the front that either comes on with car or maybe on same switch as side lights don't want to look like motorbike although would have to be dark and then mains would be lit anyway.

Anyway first things first badge removal anybody with past experience of this please?
Any help greatly appreciated, have followed this thread from start to finish and done my own version on some things this included as a finishing touch and i will be able to show off finished product. TRON CAR!!!

I havn't come across them before mate, but I dont think they will work on the 159. The boot badge on 2008 or later cars is actually the boot release so it would not be possible to fit it on those versions. Not sure on prior versions but I dont think it will be that straight forward.

The front might work, but not sure. You would have to buy one and give it a go

Hi guys!

I have been searching through this forum for few hrs to find and get a proper LED to side lights. Ive been thinking of making those angel eyes(from famous project HALO ) too however im not feeling confident to do it by myself and I dont know any person in my location who is able to do it as well On the other hand, all those DRL from philips and so on looks like a christmas tree lights on our beautifull fronts so I have decided that the best option wud be to just simply use some LED T10 bulb with resistors or canbus or whatever it is. So I bought LED with 4 SMD T10 canbus with resistors. (just somehow cannot find the link for them now so u guys could check ) I have installed them just few hrs ago and ive got an error message that I WANTED TO AVOID SO BADLY! so thats why i picked up ones with resistors of course to avoid this message.
Could u please just tell me if they should be with more those LEDs as 4 is not enough ? Or are these just with wrong resistors. Or am I understanding this wrong?
I apologize im not very techy person. BTW: before i had Osram Cool Blue Intense W5W and I was not very satisfied.

Thank you in advance guys!

Hi mate,

Im sorry maybe I just confused u guys with that "resistor " thing.
They look very much like these, however without aditional LEDs on sides, I have only those 4 lights on the top circle.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Canbus-8-...-/320778276754

maybe they are just broken but this error appears for both left and right sides. Im thinking of getting these ones previously posted by Jaba (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISA...d=532839187364). Im just pretty curious why is the error appearing with those i bought :/
if necessary i will remove them tomorrow and take some pixies of them for you so you can see and perhaps advise what might be wrong.
The brand is Vectra white T10 canbus 4 Leds 12V (honestly i have never heard about them before )

And regarding Youtube well it would be a sin to do not comment and like it
