Being looking for a £10K ish low mileage red 159 Ti for many weeks but tend to be rare, especially where I live in deepest suffolk.
So when i clocked eyes on one on Autotrader last week for £9.5K, 42,000 miles i thought my luck was in. Called the dealer (way up near Newcastle) and negocaited a deal, 12 month warranty ready to drive away.
So on Friday night i began the first half the journey and caught the train the Peterbourgh, stayed over, then continued the rest of the way the next morning, finally arriving at 11am. 5.5 hours on the train and £130 later.
Car was having a 'Dealer service' when i arrived and would not be long. A dealer service in case you are wondering was an oil and filter change, regardless of whether the car was due. An hour later the sales chap came up to me with a glum look on his face and said 'you would never believe this but they have seized the engine' !! I thought he was having a joke, but no, he was dead serious. He then took me to the garage who were doing the work, and there it was, my car up on jacks with the front wheel off and the wheel arch liner after they had tried to turn the crank pulley. 3 mechanics all scratching their heads looking under the bonnet. The engine was jammed.
They said 5 litres of oil was put in - i'm not so sure, it was started then idled for a few minutes before ratting to a halt.
If they do manage to get it started, i'm not sure how reliable and how long it would last.
