turbo boost response advice needed

OK this is going to require some carefull explanation!

Car: 159 2.4 jtdm plus egr/dpf removal and remap - the NJS/ALFATUNE one!

Question is: Does the turbo boost guage show a measured or computed value?

I only ask because the guage seems to respond very rapidly, even at low speed yet the car does not seem to respond as if the boost is being delivered. For instance in low gears with a very small amount of throttle increase (certainly nowhere near foot on the floor - maybe from 1/8 to 1/4 open) the boost guage will quite rapidly indicate about 1 bar.

All seems normal otherwise eg a maximum boost under all circumstances of about 1.3-1.4 bar, on the overrun a steady 0.2-0 bar reading. Constant reading of 0.6-0.8 bar under cruise at about 70-75mph. The inlet manifold sensor, downstream of the egr is really clean. Is it this that measures the boost? Advice appreciated.
