Hmmm, not encouraging at all. I was set on a red Brera, but now considering silver (same as my current 159) as it is easier to keep clean and chips would not be as visible.
Reds were quite delicate, they also tend to loose brightness with time, and for some time the red paint was removed from the possible choices (at least in italy).
It is reported to be a problem with the supplier and correct kind of paint, in the last few months of 2010, when you could still order the Brera/Spider by specs (i.e. until july 2010 here) orders for red color were opened again (as the issue was solved).
I had quite a time deciding which color to order the Spider, as i really liked to have it red, but had no chance to see the actual real color, and i've seen at least three different kind of reds around... so, i ended up with a Nero Pastello one (which is worse than a nightmare to keep clean.. it gets dirty again the very first second you finish washing it), which with red calipers was my second favorite choice..
If you can see the car, and do not see any sign of the paint loosing brighteness or tending to turn to rose, then it's a car with a "good" paint, and the damage you see should be stone chips and so.. else, i do know quite some people who had to re-paint the car even a couple of times (luckily under warranty, but it's still not a nice thing).
