Which diesel fuel .... supermarket etc

Just wondered what diesel people are using, supermarket, shell, BP or v-power ultimate etc .... i've been running on supermarket diesel (morrisons) so far (few months) but recently put a tank of shell v-power diesel in and it certainly seems to run better !!!! but after reading a few threads on here standard shell diesel might be just as good and it might be a good idea to generally stay away from supermarket brands, does anybody else think their 2.4 jtdm runs better on different diesel ???

I've used a mix of both supermarket and 'normal' petrol/diesel brands in all my 159 diesels to date and TBH I have never found one better than another in terms of mpg or performance.

I tend to stick to Shell/BP, occasionally using Tesco as long as I put some Millers EcoMax additive in. I definitely do not use Morrisons, as they add the most bio-diesel of all brands (upto 12% iirc) and I don't like the idea of putting refined chip fat in my car! It's ok for a van, but not a performance diesel.

I definitely think it runs better/smoother, but not so sure about mpg/power gains.

Agreed. With dpf on I felt total was better than tescos.

What I have noticed without dpf is that I don't get any black smoke at all when others say they do. I'm thinking v power and premium diesels burn more efficiently hence less black smoke ?

Just my thoughts haven't backed it with fact but havent used additives once but always use the expensive stuff . The extra pennies don't really concern me too much and think it's better for the system so use it.

I've always used Shell V Power Diesel so i can't offer any real comparrison... apart from the one time i had to use 'standard' diesel and car ran very poorly until ecu readjusted.
I don't know if it really makes a difference or not but until a week ago (car went in for a forced regen) i have not experienced any dpf/egr issues and typical mpg of around 40-43mpg. Car now done 33,000 miles in just under 2 years.
