Mine started making an awful noise when the clutch was pressed about a third of the way down, it stopped just above the biting point. Diagnosis was the clutch release bearing, but I was warned that clutch and/or dfm could be worn, the only way to find out is to get it taken to bits. My car had only done 56k btw, but do a search on this forum and you'll read the woes of knackered dfm's from as early as 20k.
The seller has only quoted you the price of the part. Even if it is just the release bearing, you'd be looking at a hefty bill to get it sorted.
I know it's not the news you want, but you should only consider this car if the seller will put it right. Otherwise walk on by, another one will show up.
