159 Tailgate opens/bounces open on its own?

Hi guys/gals

Recently had the good fortune to upgrade my X plate 156 Selespeed to a 58 plate 159 Sportwagon Ti (3mths ago now).

Have gleamed alot of great stuff thanks, from this forum re: tyres, auto 'possibilities' for wing mirrors/electric windows and flashing mileometer (proxy alignment?) using 'search'.

Not having such success with my boot/tailgate problem ... several times now, when closing the tailgate, it just bounces open again. Also, on 2 occasions, I have returned to the car (after 2-3 days away, with it locked and alarmed) to find the tailgate open and a flat battery.

Might this be a known problem? Not sure about link with boot open & flat battery, since after a while, the boot interior lights go out? And would the alarm not go off if the boot opens? Mmm. Some kind soul has suggested that 3rd party remotes (Ford Mondeo??) are known to operate Alfas by mistake??

Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Cheers

Check the boot stops.

The alarm won't arm if the boot isn't closed.
(Or if the system thinks it's not closed)
You get a series of flashes instead of the usual
single flash on the indicators.
