Finally got mine to move too. I originally thought mine didn't have this feature but the trick is to lift at 45 degrees the very first time.

Yep left indicator stalk. Press and hold at the bottom to activate and press and hold at the top to de-activate. It will show the status activated/de-activated in the central display.

It is that plastic thing that BMW owners find it optional to use when driving.

Had my 07 Brera in the bodyshop, got it back and the Blue and not ME (had the early version with no USB port) now reads text messages to me!

Has never done it before and I thought the early Blue not ME didn't have that function.

Result - as well as the back to new bodywork :-)

There was a minor upgrade to enable the Message Reader - but mine was done by the dealer in July 2008 so it is probably in the standard version by now.
However, it doesn't work on all phones - I think the hopelessly outdated Blue&Me web page has details of compatability but haven't looked in years because I got rid of the car in 2010.

Once installed it says "New message has arrived: Read it now?" ..... you say yes and away she goes....

What a brilliant thread! When I got my 159 a few weeks back I trawled through the manual and discovered a few little hidden bits. The armrest thing drove me mad as I assumed my car didn't have it (56-plate Lusso), read this thread, popped outside, yanked it, and hey presto I know have the perfect armrest position!

It's the simple things.....!

My mates 09 spider had this feature. Was very cool. I assumed that all Blue&Me cars had this feature.

So is it a case of updating the Blue&Me software if yours doesn't do it?

I noticed that the grab handles on the inside above the doors are those soft close sort. Nice.

If it needs updating you can do this by either connecting you phone to your car via Bluetooth and using the internet function on your phone to download the software, or you can do it using a usb stick with the software on it. I'm going to use the word 'apparently' here just incase I'm wrong.
