What is a 'normal' engine temperature?
Nearly a year since I joined the forum and since I bought my spider. Just a quick question regarding engine temperature. After about 20-25 mins in normal rush hour traffic the engine temperature has always hovered around 90oC but never above. The last few weeks I have found, when driving in similar conditions that it can creep above 100/110oC; I don't know anything about average ranges in temperature but this seems hot to me?
I turn on the blower to full and on full heat which successfully gets the engine down to normal ranges. I've topped up the coolant and checked all fluids but still tipping over that usual 90oC mark in rush hour traffic. I make the distinction in traffic because with a bit of speed the temperatures stay below 90.
Also have a high pitched but low volume whining sounds when stationary and not accelerating. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
