I cannot comment on other remappers but from personal experience I would recommend the use of NJS in Pershore. Very knowledgable chap who took the time to fully explain the pros and cons etc.
What Neil did also state was that some of the remaps out there can invariably cause problems. In that some of the performance gains on the 'problem remaps' are acheived by simply turning off the torque limiter settings, so that you get full torque low down, the problem being this puts excessive strain on engine components and results in premature failure.
In addition he explained that some of the 'problem remaps' are very generic and just result in the fuel pressure being increased, and the consequence of the overfuelling leads to DPF clogging issues etc. (hence you tend to hear a few complaints about DPF issues where certain tuning boxes are fitted).
I was comforted by the knowledge that none of the cars they had remapped had suffered any premature component failures. I still opted for the slightly less aggressive map of the ones being offered as I wanted to minimise the potential for any failure issues.
