Graham - I have been looking at older cars that are out of the depreciation zone. A bit of searching revealed a number of lovely drivers cars are now going for peanuts (£6k to £10k)
Audi TT 225
E46 BMW 330Ci
Given that I need a motor for work seeing clients I have decided to go with an older TT 225. They are criticised for being uninvolving but having driven the mk1 facelift I found it quite characterful.
Punchy engine, great build quality, all the toys that my Alfa has and easy to take to near 300 bhp with a remap and few breathing mods.
Very economical when driven off boost as it is only a 1.8 and 4wd means I can get out to see my clients in winter time if we get more snow.
£7k to £8k will get a minter with around 40k to 50k on the clock.
350z was just too thirsty, whilst BMW 330Ci felt a bit tame in this company. Mazda is a great motor with tuning potential, like a Scooby but more civilised (a true Q car really), but the side and rear profile was just a bit bland.
Yeah I enjoyed that day James, especially taking that Maser for a burn! Good luck with the ongoing project!
