Engine flush before changing oil?

I'm concerned that the oil has been in my engine for far too long.
I'm on 31,000 miles and the last service was on time at 18,000 according to the log book.

The garage I bought my car from reckoned they did a service back at about 28,000, but to be honest, I kind of doubt their integrity.

Should I get my oil changed anyway, just in case?
What oil needs to go in?

Also - should I do one of those engine flush things too?

Check your service book, I'm sure the service intervals are every 18k miles or 12 months. So use that as guideline. Again, the service book will list recommended oil.

Engine flush wont do any harm, and for the sake of a few quid I always get it done, whether or not it makes any difference over the life of the engine is anyones guess!

I wouldn't flush it.

Oil change isn't a service item on the DERVs.

Can't you tell from the oil colour after just a few K miles?
Oil quality sensor should be able to tell...

18k miles or 24 months per Alfa. Oil changes are only when car asks for them!

Too long in my opinion. I got my Brera JTDM done at least once a year. Oil flush also

So - the car will tell me when to change the oil?
Does it sense a change is needed, or is it on a timer?
Because I dont trust the garage I bought it off anymore, and wouldn't have put it past them to have just reset something with fiatecuscan to turn it off.

On the dirty diesels it's an oil degradation sensor.

As for a flush, yes for sure
