Trouble starting + a bit of smoke
I've never been sure about my 159 2.4 since buying it in December.
It's seemed pretty noisy and awkward since then.
However, this last couple of weeks, with all this warm weather, it is really starting to perform. I'm getting to enjoy the torque of the engine and the noise of the diesel is more pleasing in temperatures over 15C.
Anyway, the last 2 days though, I notice it taking a bit longer to 'boot' up on a couple of instances.
Now then, situations change every time I start it - depending on how quickly the kids are able to get strapped in and comfortable and find their favourite car toys. So, it's not always the same replicated procedure before setting off.
But - it took a good few seconds for it to tick over after sleeping for the night. And blew out even more smoke than normal. The smoke is grey, not blue. It normally pops out a blow of smoke on every start up. But this time because it took a good 3 or 4 seconds for the engine to kick-in, there was even more.
Any idea what could cause this?
When it's started, it's been better than ever.
Just now when I am enjoying it, it seems to have found something else to worry me with.
By the way, I reckon I could do with changing the oil.
What difference would an oil change make if I do it 3 months before it needs a service?
Do you think an oil change would help with performance / smoothness / reducing engine noise? Or is it usually a preventative measure that needs to be kept with?
