i did have my alfa remapped before i decided to remove the DPF, the economy was good, well i should say around 42 mpg local driving only and based on average off me doing 100 miles a day only ever using the 1st,2nd 3rd and 4th gears only.
i was advised because i never use to take the rpm over 1500rpm, the exhaust gases didnt get hot enuff to burn off the excess DPF gases, and it just built up, unitl the car went into limp mode and it used alot off fuel too
i was advised by me mate to take the car for a steady run at around 2100rpm and it should get rid off excess gases.
so went for a steady run for 50 miles, and funny enuff car went into limp mode, but then the power came back bit by bit.
at the end my journey, u pulled up, turned car off, got out off the car, started car back up again and ecu light went off, and full power (177bhp) was back on, and its never done it since then.
i have an app on my phone that able to read engine codes, and it advised the problem was down to my DPF.
as i normally cover around 500 miles aweek just local driving, it would more than likely come back on again, so option i have is to remove the DPF and either use a blanking plate for egr, or have egr removed on when i get it remapped again on tuesday.
once av done all off the above works on tuesday the 26th april 2011, i shall tell u how it runs, and should be in a better position within the next couple off weeks to tell u how well am doing on fuel too .
i bought my vehicle a month ago and has also coverd 168,000 miles with full alfa romeo history, the car runs like a dream as if its only done 20,000 miles and looks just as mint inside out.
i normally do an engine oil and filter every 6 weeks using 5w30 oil too. so shall keep u posted on how things get on
