159 JTD queries

Hi all

Further queries regarding my hunt for a 159. Can anyone tell me what mileage and age the cambelt change is due for the 1.9JTD? Also is it wise getting anything else done whilst the cambelt is being changed?

I have also read a few bits about things being changed for the 2008 model year such as weight savings etc.... Is there a hard and fast rule to tell a mark 2 car from a mark 1? Presumably there will be some 08 registered mark 1 cars as well as mark 2 cars so using the registration plate isn't a guarantee?

Thanks for info guys

The service book states 90K for the Cambelt change which i did - some however on here get it changed at 72K or 4 yrs old

i think that the weak link is the water pump and not necessarily the cam belt... so most people get the belt done at the same time as the pump change. My 1.9 JTDm is coming up for its 72k service when i'll also be getting the cam belt and waterpump changed

The easiest way to tell the post 08 cars is to look at the climate control..you will notice an Off button on post 08 cars instead of a MONO button on the pre 08 cars.

also the sewstyle of the seats changed from a more traditional centre section and gained a seam on the panel outboard of this probably to overcome the wear as you get in and out.The centre bezel also got a darker finish on Lusso.
