These are OK, probably the best you will get using the stock head unit. Wiring is easy, head unit out and then wire the ipod unit where you would have done a CD changer ie the blue block on the back. There is a small cover/panel in the glove box you can pop out and route the wire through so that the ipod is in the glovebox with no wires showing.
Functionality is then limited to 6 or 10 playlists which you itemise on your ipod by inserting a 1. 2. etc in front of the name of the playlist. The Head unit ang steering controls will then see these numbered playlists as CDs and you can navigate from playlist to playlist and tracks within them. You will get no artist and track listing on the display just disc N, Track XX.
For the reason of the lack of display functionality and wiring routing, I just leave an old ipod hard wired in the glovebox almost like a jukebox and use it like a CD changer, benefit being the playlists can be endless.
This is old technology now, i've had the same harness and box wired into 156, 3 GT's and a Brera, works fine if you are ok with all of the above. Best used in my mind with an old tank like an ipod mini which is bullet proof and holds plenty of music tracks. If you want one of those i've got a spare in mint condition just a weak battery which doesn't matter here as its constantly powered. Yours for £20!
If you want to use in a flashy way with an iphone and good track displays etc, maybe think again.
