Will try that, or might just leave it, and wait till next service and get it fixed under warranty. I checked again, and it's definitely not fully extended, so can't really blame my son for messing about with it.
Out of interest the leather seat back unclips, and from there you can prise out the black carpet (boot side of seat back), but even then I could not see the belt mechanism, as it's actually behind the structural part of the seatback. I think I'll just leave it alone, and have it sorted under warranty.
