ALFA 159 2.4 flooded boot, help please

Hi guys.

I bought my 159 back in september. The last couple of weeks I've noticed really bad condensation inside after its been parked for a few hours. I had a good look round it today and the boot was wet.

So i took the wheel out etc and got a vacuum pump which pumped out 5 litres of water from the bottom of the boot.

I phoned the alfa garage as I bought the car with a 1 year warranty (56 plate) They said they'll look at it on thursday but that water ingress isn't usually covered by warranty!?! does this sound accurate?

Also, the seals appear to be in good condition. I noticed that the ingress seems to have been worse on the left hand side of the boot as there were white water marks on the carpet that side.

Racked my brains and remembered that I took it to a car wash where a foreign woman cleaned it for me with a pressure washer while I walked around town for an hour. Could she have pushed water past the seals? And would it have caused such a large amount of water to get in?

What do you guys reckon I should do?

Many Thanks

suspect the foreign woman - oops - pressure washer. I would of thought most boot type seals would leak if a pressure washer was played on it for some time. But 5 ltr is a lot.

Any way I find pressure washers leave the car looking great until it dries then you see all the film of dirt thats left on.

There's 2 ways of finding leaks like this:
1. dust the interior with chalk (or talc), shut boot, play hose over area for a short time then have a look inside. Water will show up as tracks in chalk.

2. get a trustworthy mate to play hose over boot whilst you are inside with torch. Trustworthy so he/she lets you out.

I've tried both - latter is best.

I had the same, turned out there's a joint between two panels just behind the strut that should be joined with sealant but wasn't, put some captain tolley's creeping crack cure in, did the upper corner of the rear window seal for good measure & it's now dry as a bone.
