A couple of weeks ago, starting up on a cold morning, I had a 'ABS not available' message flash up briefly on the dash (the yeloow warning light came on with the ignition and then went out.
I didn't think much of it at the time as the brakes 'stuck' a little as I pulled off, just put it down to the cold and the sticking. No warning on return journey a couple of hours later, so thought it was self-cleared.
A couple of days ago it happened again, warning message briefly, like 2 seconds or so but the warning light goes out as it should, again nothing on return journey.
This has now happened a few times, always a brief message, no warning light and only ever on start up after its been left a while, yesterday for example:
message when i left home
stopped for diesel 5 minutes later, no message
return journey about 5 hours later, no message
starting it to see about 3 hours after getting home, no message
starting it to see this morning I get the message!
Brake pedal feels a bit spongy but to be fair that might be psycholoigcal didn't notice that before, and havent been able to go anywhere quiet to really brake hard but stops OK in normal traffic.
I found a thread about a sensor in the rear wheel arch, might be winter road dirt so will check that at the weekend, have full version ecuscan and hopefully will have an elm327 soon its paid for but not posted.
Really dont want to go to the local dealer (I hate them based on previous, they seem to really like my cars a lot and kept them for ages) so wanted to check simple things myself before finding an indie
