159/Spider drivers wiper rubbing on bonnet
Hello fellow Alfisti,
Thought I'd share my experience with a 2010 Spider, with only 17000 miles on and found the drivers side wiper has rubbed the paint off the bonnet, also grinding a grove in the wiper arm.
Seems a common fault. I removed the scuttle panels and noticed the wiper mechanism was sitting at a slight angle on the drivers side. I removed the wiper mech, a simple job. The rubber mounting was compressed on one side, and this had caused some play in the mech, allowing the wiper arm to rub on the bonnet.
To fix it, I rotated the rubber 180 degrees, so the compressed thin side was now at the top, and like some other posters I see on here, placed a large diameter washer under the mounting nut when reinstalling the mech. This holds the mech flush to the body, but still has the rubber washer underneath.
Then I cancelled the new wiper mech that I had ordered the day before at £219.
